Vaping Trends In 2021

Vaping Trends In 2021

What changes did we see, and what can we expect?

Vaping trends have seen many changes over the years. There have been quite a few of them, and 2021 has been no different. Let’s have a look at some of those we’ve seen in 2021, and what it could mean for the future.

Rise Of Disposable Vapes

Probably the biggest change of all. Early in 2021, Disposable vapes seem to have really caught on once again. I say once again, because the vape sector used to be flooded with this kind of e cig. These were called ‘cigalikes’ and worked in the same way, but weren’t quite as good back then. It seems that convenience is king, now more than ever.

I do think this will continue well in to 2022, as more consumers look for a quick and easy way to vape. This does not mean ‘regular’ e cigs are in danger of dying out, and I believe people will switch back to traditional e cigs to save money.

For now though, expect disposable vapes to continue their meteoric rise.

Ultra Fast USB-C Charging

We saw a lot of e cigs using ultra fast USB-C charging in 2021. A lot of these devices already use the USB-C format, but not quite in the way we saw.

This is one vaping trend I can get on board with! The only negative is that you need a specific plug to do it. Also, they are only available from the manufacturer or supplied in the box, which makes them harder to get hold of.

For 2022 I am sure we will see more of these kits release, and hopefully enter the mainstream full time.

More High Powered Vape Pod Kits

Back to convenience again. This vaping trend has been building for years, but kicked in to high gear in 2021. Vape pod kits used to be simple to use e cigs for use with high strength liquid or nic salts. A lot of them recently are now more powerful than before. This includes larger batteries and in turn, more power, with some able to output well over 100W. This has turned pod kits into a great alternative to traditional e cigs.

They are arguably easier to use and come apart quickly for fast refilling and coil changes. Going forward, I think we will continue to see these kits taking up more and more market share as a go-to e cig type for vapers.

Less 510 Vape Tanks, More Pods

Vape pods are very popular right now. So much so that we are seeing less traditional 510 tanks being released. It is expected to see this trend continue over the next 12 months and beyond. 510 tanks are still the best way to go for compatibility, but most vapers don’t switch between multiple e cigs like they used to.

This plays in to convenience once again, and it’s hard to deny that pods are a lot easier to use. I don’t think this spells the end for 510 tanks by any means, but expect less to be released through 2022.

More E cigs With Internal Batteries

A trend that is picking up a lot of speed. More vapers are switching over to e cigs with a built-in battery than ever before. With advances in fast charging being a key point, it is not as essential to carry spare batteries around anymore.

E cigs also have larger capacity options now that can rival those using dual 18650’s. Like 510 tanks, I would expect to see more e cigs with built-in batteries, and less removable options in the next 12 months or so.

Better Value For Money

Vaping is much cheaper than smoking. But with the release of new devices there is even better value to be had. They are also compact, simple to use and help make vaping accessible to anyone. With the pandemic putting strain on smokers finances, these entry level kits have proven to be very popular helping people make the switch to vaping.

These vaping trends will most likely continue to gain traction in the future, with more affordable e cigs being released. It’s worth noting that this will probably be in addition to the more premium devices, rather than replacing them outright.

Less Gimmicks

Dual airflows, e liquid capture systems, coil refresh modes. These gimmicks are being seen less and less, and that is a good thing. People are now turning to e cigs that just give them what they need; a great vape experience.

At one time it was all about software updates and how many, mostly useless modes could be added. As we head in to the next 12 months, I expect there to be less gimmicks as brands realise that people only care about the performance, and rightly so in my opinion.

At Last

This covers the vaping trends we have seen in 2021 and what we might see in the future.

What vaping trends do you think we will see more of? One thing I do know, is that no matter what happens, vaping will always be the best way to break free from the chains of smoking.
